The Role at a Glance
Project Managers at ExCo are responsible for leading residential construction projects from pre-construction handoff through completion. You will ensure schedules, communication, quality, and professionalism are upheld at every single stage.
Location Note: This is a local, hands-on, in-person role based out of North Wilkesboro, NC. Applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance and be present on job sites regularly.

Project Manager | Level 2 (Mid-Level)
Best for: Mid-career PMs or highly experienced field superintendents who can confidently run jobs independently and want to step up to premium custom builds.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage 2 to 3 standard or mid-sized custom home projects simultaneously from handoff to handover.
- Direct daily site activities, coordinate subcontractors, and manage short-term schedules.
- Act as a key touchpoint for client communication, updates, and site walkthroughs.
- Enforce ExCo’s strict standards for site cleanliness, safety, and organization.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, progress photos, and schedule tracking.
Who You Are:
- Experienced: 3 to 5 years of residential construction management or supervisory experience.
- Proactive: You anticipate schedule bottlenecks before they happen.
- Systems-Driven: You appreciate templates, checklists, and software that keep jobs moving.
- Detail-Oriented: You take pride in a tidy job site and exact craftsmanship.
Project Manager | Level 3 (Senior)
Best for: Veteran residential Project Managers with a proven track record of delivering high-end, complex custom builds from dirt to keys.
What You’ll Do:
- Total Project Accountability: Take full ownership and simultaneously manage a pipeline of 2 to 4 of our custom home projects from pre-construction handoff through final punch list and handover.
- Financial & Schedule Mastery: Drive total financial accountability across your active jobs, including strict budget oversight, master schedule execution, and strategic trade partner coordination.
- Primary Client Consultant: Serve as the chief point of contact and primary consultant for high-value homeowners across all 2 to 4 of your active builds, building trust through structured weekly communication.
- Pre-Con Cross-Collaboration: Partner directly with the in-house design and pre-con teams to evaluate blueprints, troubleshoot potential building issues, and optimize constructability before breaking ground.
- Standard Auditing: Actively uphold and audit ExCo’s non-negotiable core benchmarks for site safety, exceptional craftsmanship, and strict job site cleanliness across all your assigned projects.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as a leadership anchor in the field, mentoring and helping develop Level 1 and Level 2 Project Managers as the company scales into multiple markets.

- Proven Leader: 5 or more years leading high-end residential custom builds.
- Calm & Decisive: You stay structured, objective, and solution-oriented under pressure.
- Master Communicator: Exceptional at managing expectations with both affluent homeowners and trade partners.
- Accountability-Obsessed: You demand excellence from yourself, your trades, and your team.
Core Requirements (All Levels)
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Proven residential construction experience (level-dependent).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- An organized, disciplined approach to job management.
- The ability to lead, direct, and respect subcontractors professionally.
